What is the Intra Company Transferee Program (ICT)?
We support qualified and expert business owners to open and operate an affiliated branch of their existing non-Canadian business anywhere in Canada. Intra-Company Transferees (ICT) is intended to allow international companies to transfer executives, managers, and skilled employees to create or develop their Canadian affiliates, branches, or subsidiaries. As with other options under the IMP, the ICT’s aim is to bring significant economic benefit by increasing the effectiveness and competitiveness of the Canadian business(es).
To Be Eligible For The Ict Program, You Must:
- Have An Existing Or Recent Relationship With The Foreign Enterprise Who Wishes To Send Them To The Canadian Branch. The Transferee Must Be An Executive, Senior Manager, Or An Employee With Highly Specialized Or Essential Knowledge. It Must Be Evident That The Employee Has The Ability To Launch A New Venture Or Will Make A Considerable Improvement To An Existing One.
- Comply With All Of Canada's Immigration Requirements For Entry.
- Provide All The Business-related Documents Such As Articles Of Incorporation, Shareholders Agreement, Record Of Financial Activity, Record Of Paid Insurance Premium For Self And Employees For Two Consecutive Years Out Of Five Years Through The Business, Details About The Business Activity (Such As Products, Services, Marketing Strategies, And Target Clients)
- Qualified Intra-company Transferees Require Work Permits And Are Exempted From The Labour Market Impact Assessment (Lmia). As They Provide Significant Economic Benefit To Canada Through The Transfer Of Their Expertise To Canadian Businesses. This Applies To Foreign Nationals From Any Country, Including Under The General Agreement On Trade In Services (Gats).
